Dao
Yin is more Yoga like than traditional Qigong in that
it has a strong stretch component, combined with
directing the flow of Qi and the cultivation of the
breath, it could be thought of as Daoist Yoga.It is
very related to aspects of Indian and Tibetan yoga.
It is utterly profound in its potential particularly
when combined with both internal and external Qigong
practice and Samatha and Vipassana Meditation.
Accessing these at this level of development opens the
bodymind to the workings of the spirit internally and
externally.
This
deep level of Dao Yin practice opens the mind towards
an awareness of the formless nature of reality, the
ground of emergence out of which all form arises. The
mind can relate directly to unbounded wholeness
including the free flow of potency moving through all
living body-minds. An introduction to Dao Yin and
sitting meditation forms are offered as part of regular
Qigong classes. Dao Yin classes are generally by
invitation only, after a practitioner has developed
some level of skill plus a genuine desire to work with
their own process. Dao Yin is an internal and external
practice that can be built into all of the Qigong
forms. It is taught as a floor and standing form. It
cultivates the Qi and fluid dynamics of the body, and
develops the ability to listen to one’s own internal
and external processes, to soften, to widen, and to
deepen and expand into our formless nature.
